E-bike- a new way to commute!
We’re pretty lucky to live in a place where it typically takes no more than 10 or 15 minutes to drive just about anywhere in town, no matter the time of day. That being said, it’s still time in a car which means looking for parking (I’m already at the 3 ticket limit for the year so next time it’s an extra $25!) and, more importantly, putting more carbon into the atmosphere.
Despite the benefits of commuting by bike, I often had a reason why it didn’t work. I didn’t want to get to work sweaty. I had an errand to run during the day and didn’t have time to ride. I didn’t want to spend the extra time getting home on my bike. I always had an excuse for why I shouldn’t ride.
Fortunately, I no longer have an excuse. I bought an E-bike! I will say it was a matter pride that I had to get over before I bought it. I have been a “serious” cyclist since my college days. I was too fit to ride one of those. After owning one for a couple of months, I am a total convert!
My new ride (Trek Crossrip+) leaves no more excuses. I can get to places quickly. I don’t worry about parking. I don’t arrive sweaty. I don’t spend money on gas. I don’t listen to news on the car radio that depresses me. I connect with people on my commute. I have a blast riding around town! I also added a pannier/backpack from Two Wheel Gear that makes the transition from bike to work seamless. Basically, I’ve left my car at home nearly every day since I bought my new E-bike. If you’re looking for a way to stay out of your car more often, I highly recommend checking out an E-bike. Next time you’re downtown, stop by our office and I’ll let you take mine for a spin!
