Southern Oregon Land Conservancy- Rogue River Preserve
Last weekend I attended the Southern Oregon Land Conservancy‘s Annual Picnic and Meeting. It’s always wonderful to connect with the awesome staff and members of SOLC and this year’s meeting was especially satisfying. At the end of 2016, Southern Oregon Land Conservancy completed its fundraising for its first purchase- the Rogue River Preserve. Located along the middle Rogue River, this expansive 352-acre property has remained remarkably untouched for hundreds of years and is teeming with wildlife. It was in this incredible setting that we had our meeting. We had the chance to break into groups and take a variety of tours/hikes- butterfly tour, history, fisherman, flora, bird tours.
Southern Oregon Land Conservancy plans to actively manage the property to maintain its rich natural and cultural heritage, serving as a model for land stewardship. From time to time, they will conduct scientific research, provide educational opportunities for children, youth and adults, and host public and volunteer events. The Rogue River Preserve is truly a gift to our entire community that will be enjoyed and conserved forever.
I’m personally grateful for places like this and enjoyed seeing some of Full Circle’s clients among the guests at the picnic. Some of those people have even conserved their own land. It fills me with pride to share similar values as our clients, knowing that we all care about this region so deeply. It’s one of the reasons why Full Circle has been donating to 1% for the Planet for the past ten years. We know that people buy real estate in this region for a variety of reasons, but the natural beauty of the Rogue Valley is often at the top of the list. By supporting organizations like Southern Oregon Land Conservancy, we’re working to preserve what makes Ashland, Talent, Phoenix, Medford, Jacksonville and the rest of the valley such an awesome place to live. I hope to see you out enjoying the beauty of our region soon!
